Why do we all love summer events so much? It’s obviously about the weather, the outdoors and the options nice weather and lazy late evenings opens up to us. Naturally as well though, it is, of course, all about the food.
In fact, summer is a massive assault on the senses in every way; the visual splendour of sunlight – the River Thames glistening in the morning or late evening is something we’re fortunate to see first hand from Smith & Wollensky – and noises from singing birds, to early evening corks being popped in gardens and parks across the capital.
But for us, we’re doubly fortunate because the real senses of summer we get are the smells of classic summer food. Seafood platters chilling on ice, spicy and cooling cocktails shaken, stirred and served on a cool bar, and of course the steaks, flame grilled and succulent.
The New York Times call us ‘A Steakhouse to end all arguments’ and we’re often called one of New York’s great exports because of the quality of our food; for us, a perfect steak spells summer like few other senses.
From an events point of view this is great news and we’re encouraging businesses to look beyond a dull BBQ under a cheap marquee, and to tell staff that you truly love them by giving them the very best experience. Steak, seafood, cocktails and a wine list as long as a barmy summer evening.
We’re also laying on the entertainment as well. How about teaching your staff the ancient art of Sabrage – taking the cork off a bottle of champagne with a sabre – a fine pastime for summer team building with the added bonus that the cork can’t be put back in. For those looking for something more contemporary we have iconic DJ’s Amber Le Bon (Daughter of Duran Duran frontman Simon) & Becky Tong (Pete Tong’s daughter) mixing the music while our own award-winning cocktail expert, Ernest Reid, mixes the cocktails.
But once you and your team have danced, heated up and then cooled down; it will be the taste of the food that will give you an extra talking point in the morning.
