The Rugby World Cup at Smith & Wollensky

News 28 Aug 2015

As the battle for supremacy between two hemispheres, otherwise known as the Rugby World Cup, rolls into England and Wales this autumn, we invite you to show your true colours at Smith and Wollensky London.

Join us for an impassioned cacophony of pride and passion, of “Swing Lows” and “Flower of Scotland”, of Hakkas and scrums, mud and blood as we show all the matches, live, on our big screens. Soak up the international atmosphere, or gloat about your team’s performance, the power of your scrum, the speed of your wings and the golden boot of your Fly Half.

It has been 4 years since New Zealand lifted the William Webb Ellis Cup in Auckland, giving the 3 giants of Southern Hemisphere 2 wins a piece since the tournament began in 1987; so 2015 could be the grudge match to end them all. England have also won once too in 2003. Could it be England’s year? Will the home advantage reap its rewards for England or Wales?

England is in Pool A, which has been dubbed “The Pool of Death” as it also contain this year’s 6 Nations Champions, Wales, along with Australia, Fiji and Uruguay. South Africa could make light work of their opponents in Pool B, while Pool C’s grudge match between the All Blacks and Tonga is always interesting. There are 20 nations participating this year including USA, Japan, Canada, Romania and Namibia, so the tournament is set to be an electrifying global celebration.

Whether you want to watch the great event with a couple of friends, or book one of our private dining rooms to watch any of the matches, Smith and Wollensky London is the place to come to watch the most captivating, stirring and exhilarating event – the Rugby World Cup.
